Welcome to For the Water
Welcome to For the Water. Here’s where we intro our brand, discuss topics ranging from sustainability to product launches, and dive deep into our brand’s initiatives.
Just to give you a little history on our brand…we were born in Brooklyn, NY out of a dream to explore the world and all that’s good within it. In our travels, we were repeatedly drawn to beach destinations, and for every one of these trips we’d go into full swimwear shopping mode…many times buying pieces every season and only repeat wearing the ones that didn’t totally fall apart after a few uses. What we found is that there wasn’t much difference in the quality between a $20 suit and a $300 suit. Both price points were made of spandex blends and even when washed as instructed, had a limited shelf-life. It was becoming wasteful having to replace suits every year or two, so we decided to make a few of our own…but we’d do it a little different.
We wanted to create a classic aesthetic that could withstand time, and something fresh that would stand out amongst the saturated swimwear market. We made it a point to offer limited styles and quantities to reduce having to offload styles that didn’t sell well. We also wanted to limit our ecological footprint on the environment, so all of our swimsuits are made with majority recycled fabric. We sourced a base fabric that had a long list of performance qualities so that our girl can swim in our suit for a lifetime without worries of the fabric stretching out, fading, or pilling…it even protects from harmful UV rays. At this point, we were proud of what we created but we wanted to take it step further. We analyzed every element of our packaging and trims to see where we can do better. Our shipping boxes, hangtags, and hygienic liners are recyclable, our tissue paper, note cards, and poly bags are made from 100% recycled materials and are too recyclable. This is our small contribution to the environment, but we know we have a long way to go. Therefore, we are consistently sourcing new sustainable fabrics and packaging to reduce our impact further. It’s an uphill battle, but we’re up for the challenge!
Not only are we working on perfecting our product, we are also actively looking for ways to give back. One of our passions is clean water...clean drinking water and clean oceans, therefore, a portion of our proceeds will be donated to support existing clean water organizations who work to provide safe water to people in need or who aim to keep our oceans clean.
